
Martin studied Architecture at Portsmouth School of Architecture graduating in 1981 and completing his postgraduate studies in 1985. He worked in Dublin in the late 80s, where he was strongly influenced by the emerging young Irish architects. He later joined the RIBA gold medalist firm Scott Tallon Walker in their London office where, he consolidated his modernist approach. Martin set up Murphy|Davé in 1992.

Smita studied architecture at Portsmouth School of Architecture, graduating in 1981 and completing her post graduate diploma in 1986. She spent her diploma year at the Nantes School of Architecture, France, majoring in Urban Studies. After completing her studies she worked in private practice, including GMW, in London gaining experience in retail, residential, and government buildings before joining Murphy|Davé in 1993. She has featured twice in the
‘Women in Architecture’ exhibition, first in 2003 and again in 2010.
